Rhodes Scholarship: Global Competition - campus deadline to declare interest

Eligible are graduating seniors and graduates from any country not included in another Rhodes competition (see official website for details), who meet the official eligibility criteria.

The Rhodes Trust, based at the University of Oxford, brings together and develops exceptional people from all over the world, and in all fields of study, who are impatient with the way things are and have the courage to act.  One of the oldest and most prestigious international awards, Rhodes Scholarships provide full funding for postgraduate study in any field at the University of Oxford.  For the first time in 2018, Rhodes Scholarships were opened to citizens of any country, through the creation of the Global Competition for the Rhodes.

Interested Wellesley candidates in the class of 2025 or earlier, who are not eligible to apply through one of the other Rhodes competitions (find the list here) should declare their interest in applying for Wellesley's nomination for the Global Rhodes competition in 2025 by this date (find further details via Wellesley Career Education's resources for Rhodes applicants).

Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to forty scholars are selected each year to study at the graduate level at an UK institution in any field. As they gain a lasting understanding of British society, Marshall Scholars strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and American people, their governments and their institutions. Scholars’ direct engagement with Britain through its best academic programs contributes to their personal growth and ultimate success.

The Fulbright US Student Program provides grants to increase cultural ties and mutual understanding between Americans and communities abroad. Fulbright Grants offer you many terrific postgraduate opportunities—from scientific research to the practice of an art to the teaching of English, in more than 130 countries.

McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill - campus deadline to declare intention to apply

Eligible: candidates in all fields, from any country, planning to apply in the same application cycle for admission to a full-time master’s or second-entry professional undergraduate program at McGill University.

The new McCall MacBain Scholarships seek to bring together exceptional students who strive to engage in positive change by taking on meaningful leadership roles. McCall MacBain Scholars connect with mentors and participate in an interdisciplinary leadership program while pursuing a fully funded master’s or professional degree at McGill University!

Applications will open this summer for the third global cohort. Up to 20 Canadians (citizens, permanent residents, and refugees) and 10 international candidates will be chosen as McCall MacBain Scholars for September 2026 admission. A further 80 or so partial scholarships will be awarded to distinguished finalists!

Luce Scholars Program - direct application deadline

Eligibility: Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Candidates may be graduating seniors, recent graduates, or young professionals under the age of 32, OR if older than 32, candidates must have received their bachelor's degree within the past three years. Candidates who have spent a significant amount of time (18 weeks or more since beginning college) in more than one of the countries where we place Luce Scholars are not eligible to apply for the Luce. Candidates who have spent 18 weeks or more (since beginning college) in only one of the countries where we place Luce Scholars are eligible to apply but will not be placed in the country where they have spent significant time.

The Luce Scholars Program was launched by the Henry Luce Foundation in 1974 to enhance the understanding of Asia among potential leaders in American society. Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the Luce Scholars Program provides leadership training, stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for up to 18 Luce Scholars each year. We welcome applications from college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals in a variety of fields, with a range of backgrounds and experiences, who have had limited exposure to Asia. This transformational program is experiential rather than academic and is not for those seeking research funding.

There is one Rhodes Scholarship available each year for the Commonwealth Caribbean, which covers Anguilla, Antigua, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, St Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent, Trindad and Tobago, and, the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Churchill Scholarship provides funding to American students for a year of Master’s study in science, mathematics, and engineering at the University of Cambridge, based at Churchill College. The Scholarship was set up at the request of Sir Winston Churchill in order to fulfill his vision of US-UK scientific exchange with the goal of advancing science and technology on both sides of the Atlantic, helping to ensure our future prosperity and security. The Foundation currently offers up to 15 scholarships per year, and Wellesley is invited to nominate no more than 2 candidates annually.

Michel David-Weill Scholarship for graduate study at Sciences Po - campus deadline

Eligible: graduating seniors in any field (including but especially Economics) who are U.S. citizens.

Named for Michel David-Weill, an alumnus of Sciences Po and former chairman of Lazard Frères investment bank, this scholarship provides an American student seeking to pursue a Masters degree at Sciences Po with a stipend of approximately $80,000 to cover the cost of attendance (tuition and living expenses) over the course of two years. Wellesley is one of a limited number of partner institutions invited to nominate one candidate to the national competition each year. Apply for the Scholarship and for the degree program of your choice at Sciences Po by the Wellesley deadline.

Eligible: graduating seniors and graduates whose birth parents were born outside of the US as non-US citizens. You might have been born in the US or be a naturalized citizen, adopted from abroad, a Green Card holder, granted asylum or refugee status in the US, or have graduated from high school & college in the US (including current and past DACA recipients). You must be 30 year old or younger as of the application deadline and planning to be enrolled in graduate school full-time in the 2025-2026 academic year.

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans support up to two years of graduate/professional study in any discipline at universities in the United States.

The Yenching Academy of Peking University builds bridges between China and the rest of the world through an interdisciplinary master’s program in China Studies for outstanding graduates from all over the globe. Founded on the ideal of fostering global connections and dialogue, the Yenching Academy is a fully funded residential program offering a wide array of interdisciplinary courses on China within broadly defined fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Working closely with their academic mentors, Yenching Scholars are granted the flexibility to create their own study paths by choosing from six academic concentrations and a variety of extracurricular activities.

In recognition of the benefits of higher education, the Saint Andrew’s Society provides a scholarship for American students of Scottish heritage to study in Scotland for a year after college graduation.

Carnegie Junior Fellows Program - campus deadline

Eligible: graduating seniors and alumnae in any field from any country.

The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students who have a serious career interest in the area of international affairs. Approximately 12 students will be hired to work at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, DC, on a full-time basis for one year. Junior Fellows provide research assistance to associates working on the Endowments projects, which include nuclear non-proliferation, democracy building, Middle East political reform, trade and environment, economics, international security, South Asian politics, and Chinese, Russian, and Eurasian affairs. Wellesley may nominate up to two candidates annually.

The Elizabeth Crawford ’21 Haystack Fellowship - campus application deadline

Eligible: Wellesley graduates and graduating seniors of any nationality from any major. (There is no requirement that applicants have taken art classes at Wellesley; most workshops at Haystack are designed for all levels of experience—or lack thereof.)

The Haystack Mountain School of Crafts is an international craft school located on the Atlantic Ocean in Deer Isle, Maine. Founded in 1950 as a research and studio program in the arts, Haystack offers one and two-week studio workshops to participants of all skill levels as well as the two-week, Open Studio Residency program, exhibitions, tours, auctions, artist presentations, and shorter workshops for Maine residents and high school students. This fellowship honors Elizabeth Crawford, Wellesley Class of 1921. Crawford was one of the founders of Haystack in 1950, and the school's first pottery instructor.

The Elizabeth Crawford ’21 Haystack Fellowship provides tuition and room and board from a two-week workshop of the Fellow’s choice, plus a travel grant of up to $500.  (The only cost to the Fellow would be any materials fee for the workshop selected.)

The Boren Scholarships and Fellowships support the study abroad of less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to US interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East.

Wellesley College offers a number of fellowships and scholarships for graduate study or research open to graduating seniors and Wellesley graduates (from any country and in any field of study). Two awards (the Schimke and the Shackford) are open to women graduates of any American institution of higher education. Awards are usually made to applicants currently enrolled in or applying to graduate/professional school for the following academic year; there is a single common application process for most of these awards.  Please note that the common application will go live in the fall (early November), but that the application itself changes very little year to year.

Created in 2007 by Kathryn Wasserman Davis (Wellesley College '28), the Projects for Peace offers undergraduates funding to design a grassroots project for the summer of 2026--anywhere in the world--to promote peace and address the root causes of conflict. Wellesley may nominate one project and one alternate for funding each year.
