Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement

Built upon the foundations of Wellesley’s motto, Non Ministrari Sed Ministrare (“Not to be ministered unto, but to minister”), the Civic Engagement program explores the role of social justice, community engagement, and leadership across all majors and career fields. During the fall and spring semesters, we offer a wide range of opportunities for sustained, collaborative, reflective, and meaningful ways to engage that enrich and support a liberal arts education while partnering with fellow students, communities, and organizations.

Student Employment

Students with Federal Work Study can volunteer off-campus to earn their award. Plus — learn about student employment opportunities like being a Ministrare Peer Leader, Civic Engagement Van Driver, and team leaders for programs (see Clinton Fellows and Service Journeys)

Service Journeys

Team Leader Applications & Participant Registration open now!

Service Journey is a multi-day immersive experience for Wellesley students to engage in the greater community. Throughout the experience, students will have multiple opportunities to connect with civic innovators, engage in community building practices as a group, and deepen their understanding of a social justice issue affecting Massachusetts and/or surrounding communities.

Off-Campus Service & Transportation

Clinton Fellows

The Clinton Fellows program is designed for all students — regardless of major, career aspiration, or prior experience. This is a unique sophomore year experience offered by the Hillary Rodham Clinton Center. You will build skills, gain exposure to strategies for impact and practice in constructive dialogue along with meeting civic innovators across sectors.

Civic Engagement Staff

Ministrare Peer Leaders

Ministrare Peer Leaders are Juniors and/or Seniors curious about the social impact ecosystem and dedicated to building accessible avenues for Wellesley students to engage in community action. Throughout the year, Peer Leaders support Civic Engagement programming, maintain relationships with community partners (on and off campus), and act as a resource for students on campus. Come talk to us in the Mods (Room 402) about how to get involved with Civic Engagement — book a meeting time here!
