Transportation

The Civic Engagement Office has five mini-vans that can be used by student groups and organizations for engaging in off-campus service experiences. We hope that with access to transportation, more students are able to be more civically engaged. The use of the vans is a privilege and this policy lends clarity for students to be successful in their use of the vans. We accept student groups that are not affiliated with a Wellesley student organization, as long as it is minimum 3 students in attendance.

All inquiries for a van shift must be submitted via form. All requests are reviewed by the Associate Director of Civic Engagement and will be done on a weekly basis. In the case of an urgent request, please submit it via form and email the Civic Engagement Office (civicengagement@wellesley.edu). We understand that some partners may take longer than others to solidify a schedule with volunteer groups. For that reason, all Fall semester service will not start before October 1st and Spring semester service will not start before February 1st.

Melodies for Remedies

Melodies for Remedies seeks to promote and create enthusiasm for the Wellesley College community surrounding topics of performing arts and music as a civic engagement method to promote healing, dementia/Alzheimer’s awareness, and student-led healthcare volunteerism for senior homes, memory care centers, and family care facilities.

The mission of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.

Robogals
Driven by a bold vision, ROBOgals is committed to transforming the underrepresentation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Through innovative initiatives, workshops, and mentorship programs, ROBOgals ignites a passion for STEM within young girls worldwide to engage and empower young women into engineering and related fields.

Wellesley Alzheimer’s Buddies
The Wellesley chapter of the National Alzheimer's Buddies is a group of volunteers that seek to create bonds and make friendships with Alzheimer's residents in a nearby memory care facility in order to alleviate the emotional and social distress associated with the disease.

Wellesley for Boston Children’s Hospital
Being able to volunteer at a clinic/hospital catered to children brings a new sense of gratitude to students, as we often lose sight of the big picture. The chance to play with kids with a calculated life expectancy allows students to appreciate their ability to learn and drives them to work harder after seeing how happy the patients are regardless of their health situation.
