Kindros: Financial Literacy Learning Platform
Kindros offers nine short modules on basic personal finance topics, in beginner-friendly language. Currently, the platform covers earning, budgeting, saving, credit scores, borrowing, insurance, housing, education, and retirement. Additional modules being released over the next 12 months include an investment module and tax module. Students may choose to complete some or all of the modules in any order and at their own pace. Kindros provides unbiased financial knowledge — they do not sell financial products, advertisements, or user data.
Understanding Money Workshops
Financial literacy for all. For free. The BEAM initiative is now offering a workshop series in partnership with Bruce Miller, the founder and facilitator of Understanding Money. Bruce started his working life like many folks: with student debt and very little money. Over time, he learned to follow some simple money principles that enabled him to get out of debt, save and invest, and after a career in marketing and advertising, retire in his 50s. Bruce has dedicated his retirement years to making financial literacy accessible to all. He developed Understanding Money to foster that mission and has empowered thousands of people to make their way to financial freedom. He does the class pro bono and has no connection with any financial company. Bruce graduated from Dartmouth (AB in Economics, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) and Stanford Graduate School of Business (MBA).
As a biochemistry major, I know a lot about very complicated topics. But money has always really confused me, even though it’s been explained to me several times. This course finally helped me really understand the basic concepts of saving and investing and was presented in a really accessible way that so many people can benefit from.
For the longest time, I didn't know anything about managing money. I come from an immigrant community, and while my father has a good credit score, he doesn't have a retirement plan. I'm still in college and I knew I had to start planning for my own retirement. This course gave me a better understanding on how to do that, along with managing a credit card and budgeting based on emergency funds and bills. I think many Americans with immigrant parents carry a huge financial burden, this course was one step towards aiding it.
An Introduction to Financial Literacy
In this session, Jamie Easton, founder and CEO of financial media company The Uptick, helps us better understand the gender investing gap and empower us to navigate world of investing and the impact of market news. Think of this session as an investment in yourself; become financially literate and gain the confidence to take charge of your financial future.
